Sailor Moon was my first anime during the Saturday morning cartoons in the 90's and I didn't realized how it helped kickstart the hobby of animegao cosplaying. I would give some credit to Ms. Naoko Takeuchi for her role of helping to increase the popularity of animegao cosplay.

There may be a misconception regarding on what kigurumi means. Kigurumi is referred to two most known definitions: 1.) Animegao (Anime face) kigurumi uses an anime character face mask, zentai skinsuit, and cosplay costume to emulate to that anime character as close as possible or to be as one. 2.) Onesie kigurumi is basically a onesie pajama using colorful and/or animal designs. The subject question you are referring to is No. 2. If you want to play it really safe, you can visit your local anime…

I just came back exhausted after 4.5 hour train ride from both anime conventions in Sacramento (SacAnime on Friday) and San Jose (Crunchyroll Expo on Sat. & Sun.). Crunchyroll Expo has greatly exceeded its quality compared to their previous first event. It really feels, that IMO, CR has surpassed SacAnime in terms of overall qualities. Sacramento feels like it's getting more boring than San Jose and it feels a lot more exciting over there than here. Unfortunately, I was unable to spot any kig co…

I know there are some people out there who are rather uncomfortable of crossplaying the opposite sex, even when being protected behind the mask. One solution I can think of would be to cosplay a crossdressing anime character so people can claim they are not really "crossplaying". It can also perhaps even puzzle the public's minds too... Here's the list of androgynous and/or crossdressing anime characters that I know of: - Gun Gale Online Kirito from Sword Art Online - Nagisa Shiota from Assassin…

I'm never a big fan of social media nor having the interest of using them (Twitter & Facebook particular). I do want, however, everyone to know what's happening to the social media regarding the Facebook & Cambridge Analytica scandal. CNET Article: cnet.com/news/facebook-cambrid…mp-what-you-need-to-know/ Since the news have broken out regarding the breach of privacy by Cambridge Analytica, the Twitter movement #deletefacebook is becoming more popular and searched on Google. I have attended the first inaugural year of Crunchyroll Expo on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA and just wow, what an amazing anime convention I have been to so far. Even though it was Crunchyroll's first anime exposition, there were a lot of attendees and cosplayers alongside with cool merchandise on the exhibition floor and a very large artist ally. I was quite surprised to see that were no animegao kigs at the Crunchyroll Expo even though it's…

I believe there are Kigurumi Cafes in the Akihabara area in Tokyo. It's just like maid cafes but the staff are all costumed up. I don't know if there are retail shops that specializes on selling kigurumi masks and cosplay outfits.

Are you talking about some sort of promotional material for a business or an entertainment industry? If you are, one example I can think of is Microsoft, which loves using anime characters as mascots for its products. I'm not surprised. It is apparent based on my previous post regarding Casual vs. Pro Kigurumi that these differences are coming to light. Here's the thing, animegao kigurumi has no official rules and most of the known kigurumi community follows the generally accepted guidelines on how to kig. There is no contract nor a Term of Agreement that they must sign stating that they will follow all these rules regarding on how kig operates. Also, there are no kig rules because it cannot be enforced. The …

Welcome... Kantai Collection is quite awesome along with its characters. I think the biggest challenge you'll face isn't just the animegao costume, but rather making and carrying the huge ship on your back alongside holding the turret guns on your hands (if applicable)...

Hey, no worries. I'm in the same position as you and right now, I'm trying to pay my student loans and it's really hard to save up just to get started into kig hobby. Like Cici, I'm also glad you chose to invest your life to the future. Word of advice: Debt is the word that I personally am uncomfortable with, particularly student loans. Any debt you rack up is less money to spend on your hobby.

There might, someday, that a kig mask maker or studio would build the Ford Model T of kig masks. A mass produced, affordable, and quality mask is goal for those out there making these masks and kig costumes. I would say that Kigurumi is just like Tesla Motors, from the first Tesla Roadster to the affordable Model 3. Kig is currently where the Tesla Model S & Model X would be. It would be awhile before Kig masks would reach the Model 3 stage in terms of mass production and affordability.

Quite interesting and informative responses. Your posts can help our community if we ever plan to go kig cosplay without using automobiles. Let's hope sometime in the future that kigs can ride fully costumed up in autonomous/driverless cars. Or, let's probably don't do that. Yet.

Animegao kigurumi is a specialized cosplay which requires specialized forms of attention. It faces obstacles and challenges that regular cosplayers do not, take transportation for example. Not all of us own, drive, or even have access to an automobile so getting to the anime/cosplay events while trying carry all of the kigs' gear safely and securing them without a car can be a quite a challenge. Do consider that when driving by car can be impractical when dealing with traffic congestion and find…

ves5u.png Just to remind our Kig-O Community that we take our health and safety very seriously while enjoying our kigurumi hobby. Summer is in full swing here in Central California along with its heat wave. All kigurumi hobbyists and their handler need to recognize and be aware the dangers of hyperthermia (heat exhaustion/stroke) and dehydration. They are very dangerous and can be fatal if left unchecked or ignored. Players should remain indoors whenever they can and avoid exposure to direct su…
