I've sketched out where the eyes are going to be on the mask with the grease pencil tool in blender before I cut out the eyes with the Boolean modifier but I may have to make them smaller. I'm using a template from thingverse as a base for it. I have cut off the back since it's going to be a half shell. Link to original model: makerware.thingiverse.com/thing:2573714

Quote from BritKig: “I'd like to mention that you may not want to bring the mask eyes too close otherwise it may make your real eyes easier to see in well lit areas, even with black mesh.” Alright then. I'll be sure to keep that in mind. Now I just have a large blind spot in front of my nose to deal with.

I just tested my eyes and the vision is pretty good. I may have to bring them about a quarter of an inch closer together to get the vision right but it shouldn't look too off...

Quote from BritKig: “fill a pair of balloons with water” Quote from lzzrdgrrl: “rubbery squishy stress balls” Thanks for the suggestions but nowhere nearby sells those. I finally finished my breast forms. I now just need to finish my hip padding. Something that I noticed though is that I was having a bit of trouble with my shirt's invisible zipper. I'm not sure if there's something that I can do to increase the amount of grip I get without ruining the look. kigurumionline.org/index.php/A…18765f6…

Finally have a prototype breast form. I balled up some socks and placed them in my hada to create a shape then trace it onto my foam. The dimensions are 5" across, 8" long and 3" thick. It's really close to Dawn's shape. Hip padding may be a little difficult...

I'm trying to determine the best type of paint to use on the mask but I'm sure that there are better options than interior/wall paint (despite it coming in the color that I need). Anyway I was planning on sanding down the mask and filling it with an ABS goop (ABS scraps + acetone) to help keep the weight down. Two elastic bands will be placed about 3 inches apart from each other on the back to help keep it secure. The inner foam pads will probably be about half an inch thick leaving the mask wit…

Well I may have to freeze the project again but I'll at least get a unpainted mask done before then. My hada has finally arrived so I just need to figure out what kind of paint works best.

I just had a bit of an idea about making a mermaid kigurumi for underwater/pool/tank performances. Of course this would require some training to use but what if the mask's eyes were built on top of tinted swim goggles or a diving mask. A mini re-breather or snorkel inside would allow the performer to breath. The hada would have to be made out of the same material as wet suit instead of spandex or lycra. The tail would be built in with a monofin at the end along with some webbing between the fing…

Yes. So judging by what you said I should use the teardrop shape for smaller forms and the bowl for large ones? Thanks.

I was going to shape my breast forms and began to wonder what shapes are better for which uses. Should I go with the half egg, bowl, or a merged shape where both forms are connected?

I haven't really thought about using perforated metal due to it's wight but I'll look into it. My current plan for the eyes are a black mesh under a printed paper layer. It may not be the strongest thing but it will have to work. I ran into a bit of a snag in my plans that involves my padding. Due to me underestimating how tough it was to cut 2 in. foam, I learned the hard way that scissors just aren't going to cut it. I may have to resort to using the old kitchen knife due to the fact that I do…

I've been looking around for any kind of tips on what type on adhesive to use on the eyes to get them to attach them the mask. I was thinking about using rubber cement or hot glue to attach them but I want a second opinion to help cover all my bases and see if there's anything better. Is there also a certain brush technique to paint the mask so there's no streaks from the brush or roller? EDC: Md December

The scaling on the pic I used was a little off. My mask's face won't be as wide as the pic makes it seem since it's going to have a closer sizing to my own head.

Good news. The issues have been resolved and I can resume work on my kig. The bad news... Hard drive failure has cleared all my progress on the mask but I do have a picture about where I'm putting the slits for vision. It was a bit of a challenge due to the fact that the pokemon art style doesn't leave any good places for a wide range of vision but I think I have it so I can see a little to my left and a little to my right in edition to straight forward. I've marked the spots in pink. kigurumion…

Sure. The issue doesn't really come up well in pictures but the boot covers seem to round out as I walk instead of being tight against my shoe. You can kind of see what I'm talking about around the edge of the boot cover. kigurumionline.org/index.php/A…18765f684456dae1b26b74be3

Quote from Yoshikun: “I think earlier is better. I think at 14 - 16” I agree. I was only 12 when I first found out about it and started to research it. And here I am all these years later making my own using everything that I've learned. I'm only 19 so I guess I could say that if your passionate about it feel free to dive in head first. I of course had to wait to be on my own because I know that my family wouldn't approve of this so I'm kind of doing it in secret. In fact no one that I've talked…

I ordered a cosplay for my kig and it looked fine until I tried on the boot covers. They just seemed over-sized and puffy. Is there a way to fix this? They seem to be made of uniform cloth and I lack any skill to sow new ones.

Sorry but I may have to stop the project for now. Things in my life offline are preventing me from continuing. It will be done by towercon 2019 though.

Alright so here's a bit of a status update. I've just ordered my hadati from zentaitime and am currently waiting for it to arrive so I'll go over what I chose for my padding and undersuit. No pictures unfortunately because I don't have a working camera at the moment. So I guess I'll start with the corset. To make it quicker and easier to get in and out of my kig I went with one with a side zipper that I got from a popup Halloween store. It is an overbust one with a racerback so I won't have to w…

I was planning on imposing my body over a picture of my character to calculate the padding. Is this effective?
