first off welcome. Kig can be a very fun and rewarding thing to do. please ask questions of anyone here as I am sure all will help as they can.

Since I had got my start into kig on a tight budget I would like to weigh in on my experiences and thoughts if you do not mind. So the biggest things I think one needs to consider when getting into kig is just the cost in general. We know there is a good bit involved, but there is ways to cut down on costs. Mask or Kig head: Creating your own may not be as simple or cheep as you may think. I went down that road and here I am about a year and a half into it and I may actually have a Mask to show …

First off welcome to the fun side. I think your background would take you down the maker side of things in both cosplay and Kig. I just get the feeling you have the technical known how to do things some of us only might dream of, but you can combine that with also learning new things too. with your CNC knowledge you may have ways to improve the masks we all use or even make your own. Still again Welcome and do ask questions as we will answer and who knows you may even have thoughts we should loo…

    Paper clay

Raven Ocelot - - Construction Discussion

    Post

Sounds to me that Hiraya is possibly referencing Pepakura as a papercraft mask. If that is what she is thinking of yes it can be done as I am sure I was not the only one who has done this atleast once and I really think RinRin in Florida has really done some amazing works from Pepakura type of masks. For atleast a example I think my early attempt to use a pepakura mask is still shown in the following thread. A way to use Pepakura to attempt a Kig Mask.

my observations on it and taking what I have heard on my own sculpt from other. Over all it is getting there. I feel like mine some of the symmetry is not quite there, but biggest thing I see is the lack of the S curve one should see running from the nose to top of the head. your forehead is a bit too flat and could use a bit more definition that will bring that S feel to the area. my only other thing is I would soften the cheek/chin a bit more. I see a hard edge on the bottom there and just sof…

there are limits on how over done things can look to each person. not to knock on anyone but out there in the Drag community you will see some queens go very over stated on body proportions on purpose. I guess the answer to your question is what are your end goals on body shape. there are honestly something in anime that can never be made to look right on the human body in true life. some anime characters have legs that are much longer than they ever would be for a normal human as just an exampl…

Quote from sylgard: “you're clearly very good at working with silicone/resin and finishing the clay but I can't help thinking that some of the proportions are off and i think it's kind of a shame you've already moulded/casted it, for example how big the nose is and how it's convex instead of concave towards the tip, there's only so much you can do now but I feel like if you really want to get an accurate representation of the character you should in all honesty re-visit the sculpting stage. I know it has been a little while. Well made some progress that I had not updated over here. The mold got completed for the casting one I want to use. I cast the first piece from my mold today and thought I would share the raw casting pictures I took. 40832389631_42564186f4.jpg40832389691_9732ea5fa4.jpg40832389721_d15e561343.jpg Well hope this inspires other working on their own masks. Minor clean up is next and then prepping for eyes and ears.

The stands are lighting stands that are used for professional camera work. you can find then for a good price out on E-bay. I may soon be working on a mount for them that will help steady the mask better and with that will offer stands in the future. But in the time feel free to search for them.

Rose welcome to the fun. Taobao can be a bit interesting to order from. You can try to order directly from Taobao but dealing with someone you do not speak the same language can be hard for many. One way about that is using a Taobao Agent. There are a few out there and I have used one in the past myself and found it to work very easily for me. Please also keep in mind Taobao is not the only place you can get things you may need for Kig. I am going to drop the makers list link here for you to loo…

You seem to have the right ideas. I hope some other might jump in here as well, but I have found that layers have their down sides too. I really have started to try and minimize my layers. I have stopped using the shorts like shapers but I also currently do not use butt padding. some of what works is really up to each one of us. I run my corset with nothing below it. I do run shape wear over the corset though. this is similar to what I wear over my corset: herroom.com/self-expressions-5…trol-sha…
