      I have just had the thought that the front page, whilst viewing as a guest or member of the public, is looking somewhat barren or it gives (at least to me) a sense of a lack of content:

      I was thinking maybe some TLC in this part of the site could do with, say, some of the functionality that logged-in users would see (i.e. the image and video galleries)?

      Maybe, is there anything else I have not mentioned that could be added to try and give a good impression to vistors stopping by?

      The page looks fine as a 'Home' page after you create your account, but maybe we need a 'splash' page. Something like the thumbnails you see when you go to the 'Gallery' tab. One of the thumbnails would be the forum subject list, so that people know this is a forum. Maybe do a 'roll' with pull quotes from some of the more memorable posts to give members something to aim for. If you make some motion with some images and text, that will give the impression of ample content....'>........

      Just updating this thread to add possibilities:
      • Background image in the header area that changes on each page load (but not on mobile)
      • animegao hashtag Twitter embed (can't find an API for this though)
      • Calendar listing upcoming events (i.e. max 5) with links to the calendar item and the venue's main page
      And some random thought(s):
      • a background other than grey?
      • daily featured cosplayer
